Queer Latinx image-maker Jorge Ariel Escobar focuses on themes of intimacy, desire, and physical relationships between queer/gay men. He centers his own lived romantic encounters as source material and allows glimpses into an imagination that for many years sustained his emotional interiority. Escobar’s artistic practice crosses digital, analog, and alternative processes to visualize these concepts. Escobar made his museum debut here at the Museum of Contemporary Photography (MoCP), Chicago, in 2023. His recent solo exhibitions include shows at the Wriston Art Galleries in Appleton, Wisconsin, and the Commonwealth Gallery in Madison, Wisconsin. His group exhibitions include the Trout Museum of Art, Wisconsin; Center for Fine Art Photography, Fort Collins, Colorado; and Candela Gallery, Richmond, Virginia.

Escobar holds an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He presently lives in Milwaukee and works in Milwaukee and Chicago.
