Artist and gallerist Janice Guy participated in several group exhibitions during and after completing her studies at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Her first solo exhibition took place in 1979 at Galerie Ricke, Cologne. In the late 1980s Guy moved to Italy and began to change her focus from making art to the new interest of gallery director and support for other artists. Guy evolved to become cofounder of the New York gallery Murray Guy (presently Janice Guy). At the insistence of her circle of peers, Guy’s artistic work reemerged in the early 2000s and since then has been exhibited at The Apartment, Vancouver; Cleopatra’s, Brooklyn; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; and White Columns, New York. Guy continues to live and work in New York. In 2019, she had a solo exhibition, A Foot in the Mouth of Art, 1975–1981, at Higher Pictures in Brooklyn.
