The COLORS Portfolio is a collection of forty offset hand-editioned and signed lithographs, which were created for a 1975 exhibition curated by Robert W. Fichter and funded by the National Endowment for the Arts at the Art Gallery of Florida State University. The portfolio includes a printed introduction by innovative photographer and educator, Henry Holmes Smith. The portfolio is filled with text and image layered imagery by some of the most influential and experimental artists in the history of the photography. Artists featured include Robert Heinecken, who is well known for his assemblages of found images from torn magazine pages and advertisements, and Betty Hahn, who experiments with alternative processes such as gum bichromate printing, to challenge conventional ideas of the medium while incorporating a range of artistic techniques such as lithography, painting, or embroidery.
