Lot Description
Lot of 4 Congolese Daggers
Lot of four Congolese daggers including:

Three Kuba Ikul and one Tetela dagger, measuring about 12.5" to 14.5" overall with hilts. Two of the Ikul are composed of iron with wood hilts featuring chiseled geometric embellishments, while the third features a similarly decorated hilt mated to a hammered copper blade. One of the Kuba Ikul has a hole punched through the tip, likely from a former wall mounting method. Knives of this pattern are ceremonial in nature, and were once traded as a form of currency. The fourth blade, a Tetela dagger, features a massive triangular pommel and arrowhead shaped blade with wire wrapped wood hilt. Item appears to be composed of steel.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
Condition Report
Fair to Good. All blades show some signs of oxidation with a brown patina dominating the Ikul and a gray to brown patina mottling the Tetela dagger. Copper blade shows a warp near the tip with some abrasions and loss of the finish on the blade. Wood pommels show some cracking on the guards with scattered scuffs and mars.
