A Chinese White and Russet Jade Melon-Form Snuff Bottle

18TH/19TH CENTURY

清中期白玉瓜瓞綿綿鼻烟壺
the oblong pebble-form stone carved to the russet skin showing a six-lobed fruit wrapped in leafy vines issuing rounded melons, and incised to one side with a delicate butterfly.

Height of bottle 2 1/2 in., 6.4 cm.

Accessioned by the Strong in 1978.

Condition Report

In overall very good complete condition with some minor surface marks. Spoon and stopper present and intact. Applied with handwritten accession number.
