A Chinese White Jade Snuff Bottle

19TH CENTURY

清中期白玉鼻烟壺
款識：在家長如意，出外永平安
the rectangular bottle with squared corners worked from a very pale matrix, carved with calligraphic inscriptions to the long sides, and flanked by mock ring handles beneath mythical beast masks, jadiete stopper.

Height of bottle 2 1/4 in., 5.5 cm.

Accessioned by the Strong in 1978.

Condition Report

Well hollowed in very good and stable condition, soiling to the interior. Spoon and stopper present and intact. Handwritten accession number applied to underside.
