Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. A group of 7 images of Union soldiers, incl. ambrotype and tintypes. 

Sixth plate ruby ambrotype half-length portrait of seated soldier wearing kepi. (Weak clarity, wear at perimeter). Uncased, housed under glass with patriotic brass mat. -- 2 sixth plate tintypes of seated soldiers. (Abrasions, soiling.) Uncased, under glass with brass mats and preservers. -- Sixth plate tintype half-length portrait of serious-looking soldier. (Bends to plate, some abrasions.) Uncased, with brass mat and preserver (tarnishing). Reverse of plate etched, "To Mrs. Nancy Thomas / Gibbens Glade, Pa. / Fr. Ed. Pierce." Several E. Pierces served from Pennsylvania. -- Ninth plate tintype bust-length portrait of bearded soldier. (Tarnishing at perimeter.) Housed in full pressed paper case (heavy scuffs, loss at upper corners. -- Ninth plate tintype half-length portrait of seated soldier. (Somewhat weak clarity, light surface abrasions). Uncased, housed with brass mat (tarnished). -- Ninth plate tintype half-length portrait of a bearded man wearing a fur-covered cap, possibly a civilian. (Some spotting). Uncased, housed under glass with brass mat and preserver. -- Together, 7 images.
