[CIVIL WAR]. A group of 5 photographs, highlighted by signed cabinet card of Major General Franz Sigel.
Cabinet card-sized image after lithograph/engraving of German-born Major General Franz Sigel on cardstock mount. Sigel (1824-1902) commanded at Pea Ridge and in the Valley. His ability to recruit German-American troops made him very useful to the Union. Inscribed and signed in lower margin, “To Truman S. Powell / Galena, Mo. / in friendly remembrance. / March 1895 / F. Sigel / Maj. Genl. (1862) March.”
[With:] Cabinet card of four men in uniform in the middle of a field. Labels on the sleeve identify them as: Lt. H.L. Harris, 1st Arty., Gen. W.T. Sherman, Maj. Gen. J.H. Schofield, and Col. Geo. P. Andrews, 1st Arty.
[With:] Cabinet card of unidentified veteran holding a flag. In front are the letters: “SHILOH” (image a bit light).
[Also with:] CDV of Fremont on a rocking horse (cartoon), titled “Crossing the Rocky Mountains.”
