Lot Description
[NATIVE AMERICANS]. A group of ephemera related to Native Americans, comprising:
Jasperware plate, 4-1/2” diam. Green with white Native American wearing a headdress and hairpipe breastplate; owls encircle the perimeter. Schafer & Vater, Germany. Broken Arm Chief Sioux, mold 3205.
Nine souvenir spoons, including six teaspoons, three demitasse spoons. All with Native Americans on the handles, all marked “sterling.” One has some copper overlaid on the exposed skin of the Indian. Bowls with: Founder of Osteopathy / Kirksville Mo.; Court House / Eureka Cal.; West Baden Springs Hotel / West Baden Ind.; Rush City High School; Denver; Indian Tepee / Albuquerque; Chief Josh / 25; Old Faithful. One other has initials and a date.
Northwest Indian Congress Delegate button, 2-1/8” diam. cello button with silk ribbon (splitting). Spokane, WA Oct. 30-31, ’25.
American Indian Souvenir Playing Cards, Los Angeles, CA: Lazarus & Melzer, 1900. Complete deck in original maroon leather box with gilt lettering. Cards have Navajo textile on back. Card faces with many views of southwest Indians, including people involved in everyday tasks (winnowing grain, grinding, carrying water, etc.), ceremonials (including the Hopi Snake Dance), Chiefs of several pueblos, family groups, kids playing, many more.
Two 8x 10” photos: one of United States District Judge A.F. Sure being made a Blackfeet Chief (1933); the other a promo of Chief Blackhorn and Col. Joe Miller.
