Condition Report

Sturdy, well-conserved condition. The finish is older but not original, although the finish on the top surface appears to be original. The top surface has several plugged holes. Moderately polished patina. A plugged hole in the veneer on the front of the writing surface with a small amount of overpainting next to it to conceal veneer loss. Several slight age cracks in the veneer. A small area of lost veneer along the front edge of the base. The lopers or writing surface are slightly warped so that the writing surface does not sit flat when opened. The brasses appear to be original but the locks have been replaced. With keys.
