[SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY]. J. LeFerre patent model for a "Window Sash Elevator" or Sash Balance with original tag, 1867.
14 5/8 x 10 x 2 3/8 in. (overall) model comprised of a wooden window frame with two independently movable sashes, each featuring two glass panes, and a pulley system mounted to the frame interior (only one cord of pulley system remains intact; general wear to wood). Original cloth tag (discoloration in some spots, fraying to edges) numbers this patent 69,952 and reads (in a combination of manuscript and print), "J. Le Ferre. / Window Sash Elevator.ˢ / Patented Oct. 15 / 1867." Additional paper label identifies the model as "Property of 'The O. Rundle Gilbert U.S. Patent Model Collection' / Garrison-on-Hudson, New York."
