Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A group of 15 daguerreotype portraits of siblings, including:

A quarter plate portrait of three young siblings, including two girls wearing matching plaid dresses and necklaces with pink hand tinting, and a young boy wearing an embroidered shirt. (Tarnishing to edges, with some light spotting throughout image; few oxidation spots to preserver; resealed.) Housed in a half pressed paper case (surface wear and loss). -- A sixth plate portrait of three young siblings including two young girls wearing matching floral dresses with blue hand tinting, and a young boy wearing plaid pants. (Light tarnishing to edges, light scratching and spotting to image; unsealed.) Housed in a fully separated pressed paper case (fully separated at spine, light surface wear). Pencil inscription behind image identifies subjects as "Emma Rebecca and David." Paper note behind image contains a lock of hair with inscription reading, "To Emma. From her Friend Mollie of Brownsville Penna." -- A quarter plate portrait of two sisters, one sitting and one standing, both wearing necklaces of triple layered pearl strands. (Tarnishing to edges, with significant spotting and clouding throughout, spotting to mat; unsealed.) Housed in a full leatherette case (surface wear and spots of loss throughout). -- And 12 other sixth plate examples, many without full cases. -- Together, 15 daguerreotype portraits of siblings, all but one featuring children.
