Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A group of 13 daguerreotypes featuring parents with children, including:

A pair of sixth plate portraits of a mother holding her two children on her lap, both of whom are in slightly different positions in the two portraits. (Some tarnishing to edges, light clouding to images overall.) Housed together in a full pressed paper case (significant surface wear and beginnings of separation to spine). -- A quarter plate portrait of a mother posed affectionately with two children, one of whom stands behind the mother with his head resting on her shoulder. N.p.: W. Boyer, n.d. (Heavy tarnishing to edges and some scratching and spotting throughout; no preserver present, plate loose from mat and glass.) Housed in a fully separated pressed paper case (fully separated at spine, some edges missing, wear throughout). Case marked for W. Boyer, Daguerreotype Artist. -- A sixth plate portrait of a father and his daughter, both with interesting facial expressions. (Tarnishing to edges, with some spotting and light softening to focus; resealed.) Housed in a full leatherette case (general wear throughout). -- A quarter plate family portrait featuring a mother, father, and their two young boys. (Spotting and some tarnishing to edges, heavy oxidation to mat and preserver; resealed.) Housed in a half pressed paper case (general wear and loss). -- And 8 others, including one half plate example and 7 sixth plate examples, many without full cases. -- Together, 13 daguerreotype portraits of parents with children.
