[GENERAL AMERICANA]. A group of 2 bounty receipts for wild animals, comprising:
Receipt issued "To Silas Bowen Esq. Town Treasurer" ordering that he "pay to Ichabod Perry Fourteen shillings which is for seven foxes killed within our Town and their hide brought to house...." Sandwich [Massachusetts]. 23 February 1756. Signed by Selectman John Freeman, Samuel [?], and Thomas Smith. 4 x 31/2 in. (light soil, creasing at folds).
[With:] "Wolf Certificate." Signed statement issued by William Nichols, Justice of the Peace of Will County, Illinois, certifying that "Jacob Mendehall [sic] produced before me the scalp taken from one wolf and after being by me duly sworn according to Law saith that the wolf from which the aforesaid scalp was taken was by himself killed...." 24 December 1840. 7 3/4 x 5 in. (completely separated along 2 horizontal folds, chipping at edges, toning).
