Signed statement issued by William Nichols, Justice of the Peace of Will County, Illinois, certifying that "Jacob Mendehall [sic] produced before me the scalp taken from one wolf and after being by me duly sworn according to Law saith that the wolf from which the aforesaid scalp was taken was by himself killed...." 24 December 1840. 7 3/4 x 5 in.
