A group of 2 Illinois newspapers with references to Lincoln, incl. issue promoting Henry Clay as President and Lincoln as Elector and an issue with an advertisement for Lincoln's law firm and printing of his speech in response to Douglas.

Daily Illinois State Journal. Vol. X, No. 14. Springfield, IL: Bailhache & Baker, 29 June 1857.

Folio, 4pp., 16 1/2 x 24 1/2 in. (small separations along old folds). Featuring front-page advertisement for Lincoln & Herndon law firm: "Lincoln & Herndon, Attorneys and Counsellors at Law, will practice in the Courts of Law and Chancery in this state, Springfield, Ill." The article, "Speech of the Hon. A. Lincoln, Delivered in the Hall of the House of Representative on the 26th inst. in Reply to Judge Douglas" is printed in full in 2 columns on page 2. 

[With:] Rockford Forum. Vol. II, No. 11. Rockford, IL: A. Colton, 1 May 1844. Folio, 2 pp., 14 3/8 x 21 1/8 in. (occasional brown spotting, short tears and separations along old folds). 

On the second page is the electoral ticket for Henry Clay's 1844 presidential campaign, notably including Abraham Lincoln as one of the Senatorial Electors, representing Sangamon county. Clay would narrowly be defeated by Democrat James K. Polk. Also includes an article on Texas Annexation.
