HERNDON, Archer Gray (1795-1867). Document secretarily signed ("A.G. Herndon") by his brother William Herndon. N.p., 26 April 1830. 7 3/4 x 3 in. Promissory note. Archer's eldest son would become Lincoln's law partner in 1844. -- DAWSON, John (1791-1850). Autograph document signed ("John Dawson"). Sangamon County, IL, 12 March 1833. 7 x 8 in. Certification written on verso of marriage license between David Worley and Elizabeth Shingle. -- McCORMICK, Andrew (1799-1857). Document signed ("Andrew McCormick"). Sangamon County, IL, 18 April 1833. 7 1/2 x 12 in. Document stating the necessity "of the testimony of Elijah J.T. Marley." -- STONE, Daniel (1800-?). Autograph document signed ("D. Stone"). Sangamon Circuit Court, IL, 4 March 1834. 8 x 10 in. A subpoena. -- WILSON, Robert Lang (1805-1880). Document docked on verso of blank integral leaf ("R.L. WIlson"), as Recorder. Whiteside County, IL, 25 September 1856. 7 3/4 x 12 1/2 in. Deed originally filed 1 July 1837. -- EDWARDS, Ninian W. (1809-1889). Autograph note signed ("NW Edwards"). [Sangamon County, IL], 25 September 1843. 7 1/2 x 3 in. On verso of a promissory note to pay Edwards $109.18, which Edwards has endorsed to Simpson F. Sutton, who has also endorsed the note. -- ELKINS, William F. (1792-1880). Partly printed document signed ("Wm. F. Elkins"), as Justice of the Peace. Sangamon County, IL, 23 December 1854. 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 in. Marriage certification. -- FLETCHER, Job. (1793-1872). Partly printed document signed ("Job Fletcher"). Sangamon County, IL, 16 August 1858. 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 in. Affidavit that a witness attended court. -- Together, 8 documents signed by each of the "Long Nine" (except Abraham Lincoln), condition generally very good, creasing, occasional toning. 

The "Long Nine" was the nickname given to Abraham Lincoln and 8 other men, all of who were at least 6 feet tall, who shared political ideology and represented Sangamon County in the Illinois General Assembly during the 1836-1837 legislative session. Their major accomplishment was an effort to move the Illinois state capitol from Vandalia to Springfield.
