[CIVIL WAR]. Sons of New England Arouse! Your Country Calls You! Wanted, 200 Able Bodied Unmarried Men for the 11th Regiment Regular Army, Head Quarters, Fort Independence, Boston Harbor. Keene, NH: N.p., ca 1861.
25 1/2 x 38 1/4 in. (visible), housed in 27 x 40 in. frame (appears to be mounted to board, unexamined outside frame, fold lines, corner and edge wear and loss, including loss to top right corner and edge, loss to top and bottom left corners). Signed in type by T.O. Barri, Captain, 11th Infantry.
The 11th Infantry was organized in May 1861 at Fort Independence, Boston Harbor, Massachusetts, as regimental headquarters, which remained the 11th's headquarters throughout the Civil War. It took part in several important campaigns and battles, including the Siege of Yorktown, Battle of Malvern Hill, Second Battle of Bull Run, Battle of Antietam, Battle of Fredericksburg, Battle of Chancellorsville, and the Battle of Gettysburg.
