Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. White cotton haversack, likely prewar or early war militia issue.
Approx. 9 1/2 x 9 in. (at widest width) cotton haversack with 20 1/2 in. (drop length) carrying sling and bone closure buttons (bag with heavy discoloration and some surface wear consistent with use, one rip to bottom edge, possible repair to lower corner on back of bag). Interior with 2 bone buttons to secure inner bag (missing).
These prewar and early war bags were made in New Hampshire and Massachusetts and issued to their troops.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
