[CIVIL WAR]. Model 1864 cartridge box by S.H. Young, Newark, NJ.
Federal Pattern of July 1864 .58 caliber cartridge box with 7 x 5 3/8 x 1 5/8 in. internal box containing original magazine tins, inner flap, implement pouch, and approx. 8 x 7 in. outer flap bearing embossed "US" and Ordinance Department inspector stamp (some crazing and crackling to leather throughout, with small bits of outer surface loss throughout). Back of box stamped for S.H. Young of Newark, NJ, and with initials "L.L.T." Belt loops, buckles, latch tab, and brass finial all present and complete.
