Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Excavated Model 1851 Navy Colt Revolver.
Excavated Colt Navy revolver with matching serial number marks 65641 overall to frame, gripstraps, wedge and arbor pin. Manufactured in 1857. Item features a cylinder with 4 corroded rounds still loaded in chambers, and one percussion cap to rear of cylinder. Barrel is marked with one-line Colt New York City address. Rear of triggerguard is marked with an "M" on left side. Item is in relic condition and without grips. Hammer and cylinder are both frozen due to oxidation. Wedge pin possibly altered or replaced at some point. Provenance: Purchased from Bob Land of Duluth, Georgia, at the Denver Antique Show, 14 May 2009 (consignor's note).
