Lot Description
[EDISON, Thomas (1847-1931)]. LUEDER, Lewis, photographer. Portrait of Thomas Edison with an electric mine lamp, signed by Edison. Ca 1923.
7 5/8 x 6 5/8 in. silver gelatin photograph, framed to 11x 9 1/8 in. (creasing, loss to upper left corner, ink staining; unexamined out of the frame). Photographer credited in the negative, lower right. Signed "Thos A Edison" upper left. Here, Edison studies what is likely a miner's safety lantern, powered by his Edison storage battery. We have been unable to locate another example of this exact pose, though there is a well-known photograph from the same sitting in which Edison holds a different part of the lamp in his hands.

they are in at the time of the auction, and we and the seller make
