[NATIVE AMERICANS]. [BAKER & JOHNSTON, photographers]. General George Crook on muleback, with Chiricahua Apache scout Ba-Keitz-Ogie and White Mountain Apache scout Alchesay. [Colorado]: ca 1885.
6 1/2 x 4 1/16 in. albumen photograph on 7 x 4 5/8 in. thin cardstock mount (slight vertical bend to print and mount, toning to print, light chipping to right edge). Penciled notations to verso. Crook is shown riding a mule, with Ba-Keitz-Ogie (Yellow Coyote, ca 1855-1893) and Alchesay (1853-1928). Alchesay earned the Medal of Honor during Crook's campaign against the Chiricahua and served as a translator during Geronimo's surrender in March of 1886.
