Lot Description

[CIVIL WAR]. Imperial albumen photograph of a Union second lieutenant. New York: R.A. Lewis, n.d. 

10 x 13 1/8 in. oval albumen photograph (light toning, some ink spots); mounted to 13 1/4 x 16 in. cardstock mount (toned offsetting at edges). Photographer's imprint gilt to mat recto. Accompanied by period glass and wooden frame backing, but without frame. 

The unidentified officer is seated in uniform, his shoulder straps visible. Some of the features have been enhanced with ink, particularly his hair, left shoulder, and his eyes.
