24 3/4 x 22 1/4 in. printed souvenir bandana (some fading to blues). Featuring three roundels with a portrait of the explorer, one of his ships labeled "1492", and an unnamed steam-and-sail vessel labeled "1892." With a patriotic border of crossed American flags and shields.
In 1892, there was a nationwide celebration of the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's first voyage to America. It was this initial observance that led to the adoption of Columbus Day celebrations. RARE: no other copies located, not listed in Threads of History.
