Faint penciled notation to verso tentatively identifies the subject as "Corvette Lewis." Northampton, MA: J.D. Wells, n.d. (spotting, some surface soiling to image and mount; corner and edge wear to mount). Corvette E. Lewis was a 20 year-old basket maker in Huntington, MA, when he enlisted as a private on 5/29/1862 and mustered into Co. G, 32nd Massachusetts Infantry. He re-enlisted on 1/1/1864; WIA at Laurel Hill, VA, 5/12/1864; and died of wounds on 5/20/1864.
