Lot Description

[CIVIL WAR]. A pair of flasks, incl. a W.T. Fry & Co. Civil War officer's flask, ca 1863. 

Glass officer's flask, 6 3/4 in. high, top portion with leather covering and bottom with a removable pewter cup. Bottom of glass bottle with maker mark of "W.T. Fry / New York," cap bearing company name and inscription "Top Warranted / Not to Leak or Come Off." Hardening and cracks in leather, approx. 1 in. crack in pewter cup. 

[With:] Glass flask, 6 1/2 in. high with removable pewter cup at bottom. Bottom of glass marked "Olry & Co. / Phillada." Faint inscription on cap "Sept. 25, 1866." One side of pewter cup inscribed "J.M. Gilman / Never missed a shot / But will take a drop." Reverse of cup inscribed with a playful "prayer": "Our Father who art in Fort Wain / hallowed be thy name / they kingdom come with / Joy of rum high low / Jack in the game. / C.W.G."
