[CIVIL WAR]. A group of soldier's art and ephemera. 

Watercolor of a building labeled "72". 5 3/8 x 3 in. (staining). Verso is signed "R.B. Switzer" in ink, with pencil inscription: "Brig Gen Jenkins / Col. Gas Corn / Capt. H.C. Everett / Co E 8th VA Cav. / Enlisted Sept 1861 / Captured 1863 / to Rich / Mar 1865 / J.M Potat Enlisted Dec 1861." -- Cover with ink illustration of a soldier and a young girl. Addressed to Mary S. Brown of East Jaffrey, New Hampshire. Postmarked 31 July n.y., Old Point Comfort, VA. 5 1/4 x 2 7/8 in. Verso with 3-cent red stamp and ink drawings. -- Together, 2 items of art.

New York: Major & Knapp, 1864. 5 3/4 x 3 5/8 in. color lithographic postcard (repaired tear to lower edge). -- Together, 5 printed items.

[Also with:] Group of 6 clipped newspaper advertisements. Largest 2 1/2 x 5 1/2 in. (closed repair to hat advertisement). Includes a recruitment notice for the 18th Regiment of the U.S. Infantry, a "new breech-loading rifle", and "Rebel Notes!"
