[CIVIL WAR]. Railroad pass for Benjamin Scott on his way to enlist with a "Col[ored] Reg[iment]. Columbus, OH, 10 August 1863. [With:] DENNISON, William (1815-1882). Partly printed document signed ("W Dennison"), as Governor of Ohio. 1861.

Partly printed railroad pass. Columbus, OH, 10 August 1863. Visible 5 3/4 x 3 3/4 in. printed pass completed in manuscript (creasing, minor brown stains). Completed in manuscript for "Ben. Scott + one other" for a rail journey on the C+M Rail Road from Youngstown to Cleveland. Signed by Quartermaster General Geo. B. Wright. Left edge inscribed "Col Reg", indicating "Colored Regiment."

Likely a pass for Benjamin Scott who enlisted on 4 September 1863 as a "Colored Cook" and was mustered into Company F of the 32nd Ohio Infantry on the same day. 

[With:] DENNISON, William (1815-1882). Partly printed document signed ("W Dennison"), as Governor of Ohio. Columbus, OH, 30 July 1861. Visible 11 1/2 x 8 1/2 in. (toned with old creases); framed to 14 1/8 x 11 1/8 in. (not examined out of frame. Commission document for John C. Hale to be promoted to second lieutenant in Co. E, of the 2nd Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, of the First Quoa of the Militia of the Reserve.
