[SLAVERY & ABOLITION]. A group of documents mostly recording the deaths and burials of enslaved persons in Cuba, including:
1p, 6 1/4 x 8 5/8 in. document labelled "pase de esclavo," or "slave pass" at top. 12 October 1876. -- 4 documents, each 6 1/4 x 8 1/2 in., relating to the death and burial of a 17-year-old enslaved creole man named Silvestre, July 1868. -- 3 documents, each 6 1/4 x 8 1/2 in., relating to the death and burial of a black woman named Clara Conga, who was interred in a private parish cemetery, July 1868. -- And one other document dated 22 June 1871. -- Together, 9 documents, all in Spanish, most related to the deaths of enslaved persons in Cuba. Conditions generally fair, with some tearing to edges, spotting/discoloration, and small areas of paper loss.
