[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. 2 Full plate daguerreotypes and 2 half plate daguerreotypes in same case
Full plate copy portrait of an identified bearded man with long hair holding a walking stick. (Light spotting, few other blemishes, soft focus; unsealed.) Housed in a separated pressed paper case (fully separated at spine, heavy wear including loss throughout). Ink inscription inside of case identifies the subject as "Edward Y. Buchanan 1811-1875." -- Full plate portrait of a family including mother, father, and young boy. (Heavy clouding, spotting, and deterioration to image, tarnishing to edges, spotting to mat and preserver; resealed.) Housed under mat, glass, and preserver, no case. -- Half plate portrait of a woman and a young girl, posed affectionately. (Light spotting and surface blemishes; resealed.) -- Half plate copy portrait of a man and baby. (Heavy clouding and deterioration to image; resealed.) Housed in a large leatherette case together with previous half plate image (surface wear throughout). -- Together, 4 daguerreotype portraits.
