Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A group of 15 daguerreotype portraits of pairs of women, including: 

Quarter plate seated portrait of a pair of women, likely sisters, posed affectionately. Northampton, MA: Jeremiah D. Wells, n.d. (Significant spotting throughout plate, affecting subjects; retains original seals.) Housed in a separated pressed paper case (fully separated at spine, surface wear throughout, velvet pad loose). Mat stamped for Wells. -- Sixth plate seated portrait of 2 women appearing to be dressed exactly alike, with similar hairstyles, likely sisters. (Tarnishing to edges, spotting throughout, weeping in places; unsealed.) Housed in a separated pressed paper case (fully separated at spine, surface wear throughout). One of the women appears to have an issue with one of her eyelids as one appears to be open and the other nearly closed. -- And 13 others, including 2 quarter plate examples, 9 sixth plate examples, and 2 ninth plate examples (one housed in a Union case). -- Together, 15 daguerreotype portraits of pairs of women.
