Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY - TINTYPE]. A group of 4 tintype portraits of civilians with weapons, including:

Quarter plate tintype portrait of a pair of young civilian hunters posed against an elaborately painted backdrop. (Image slightly dark, with a few spots, dents, and abrasions throughout; unsealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case with affixed paper label for Carriel's Photograph Gallery of Cuba, NY (moderate wear throughout, spine repaired). The two subjects are armed with an array of small percussion pistols, belt knives, and shotguns. -- Loose irregular sixth plate tintype featuring a couple of young civilians pretending to threaten one another with weapons (surface wear throughout including scratches, abrasions, and oxidation to edges, plate corners clipped.) The fellow on the right holds a small cocked revolver while the fellow at the left holds an unknown implement above his shoulder. -- And 2 other tintypes. -- Together, 4 portraits of armed civilians.
