Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY - CYCLING]. 14 photographs of featuring bicycles and other wheeled devices.

8 1/8 x 6 1/4 in. silver gelatin photograph on 12 x 10 cardstock mount (toning to image, mount with pinholes and wear to edges and corners). Portrait features a large group of men, women, and children posed in front of an ivy-covered house, 4 people with bicycles, one man holding a small dog -- 4 loose tintypes, each approx. 2 1/2 x 3 3/8 in. (some with clipped corners, heavy wear to edges and corners, some surface crackling and areas of chemical deterioration). Portraits show mostly young people posed with their bicycles, some in a studio and some outside of a house. -- Boudoir card studio portrait of a girl atop an early tricycle. Uncredited (toning, spotting, wear to mount edges and corners). The young lady wears a polka-dotted dress and plumed hat. -- Cabinet card of a man on roller skates. Burlington, NJ: Thos. Baker, n.d. (toning, soiling, light spotting, wear to edges and corners). The man wears a coat and hat, and poses on his roller skates before a painted backdrop. -- And 8 other cabinet cards featuring men, women, and children with bicycles. -- Together, 14 photographs of people with bicycles and other wheeled devices.
