Buchanan & Breckinridge / "The Union" It Must Be Preserved. Featuring a vignette of the Democratic candidates standing with an American flag upon the "Democratic Platform" upon a hill labeled "the Constitution" superimposed by an Eagle and shield, surrounded by a cheering crowd. Printed in red. -- Cover with portrait of Buchanan in an oval. -- James Buchanan. With large portrait of the candidate. -- Together, 3 covers for the Buchanan & Breckinridge ticket, each approx. 5 x 3 in., minor soil.
[With:] Cover featuring oval portrait of Millard Fillmore of the Know Nothing Party. 5 1/2 x 3 1/8 in. yellow cover (soiling, short separation at flap crease).
[Also with:] Fremont, First of Freedom's Host / Now Plants our Flag on to Victory Leads / And E'en to Far Pacific's Coast / The iron Hose o'er Plain and Mountain Speeds."
