[POLITICS -- 1856 ELECTION]. Ten illustrated covers featuring BUCHANAN, FRÉMONT, and FILLMORE.

Buchanan & Breckinridge / "The Union" It Must Be Preserved. Featuring a vignette of the Democratic candidates standing with an American flag upon the "Democratic Platform" upon a hill labeled "the Constitution" superimposed by an Eagle and shield, surrounded by a cheering crowd. Printed in red. -- Cover with portrait of Buchanan in an oval. -- James Buchanan. With large portrait of the candidate. -- Together, 3 covers for the Buchanan & Breckinridge ticket, each approx. 5 x 3 in., minor soil.

[With:] Cover featuring oval portrait of Millard Fillmore of the Know Nothing Party. 5 1/2 x 3 1/8 in. yellow cover (soiling, short separation at flap crease). 

[Also with:] Fremont, First of Freedom's Host / Now Plants our Flag on to Victory Leads / And E'en to Far Pacific's Coast / The iron Hose o'er Plain and Mountain Speeds." With embossed text and embossed image of figures ascending a mountain, with the figure at top with a flag, a train int he background. -- Fremont& Dayton / Freedom / National / Slavery Section'al. With image of an eagle grasping a snake. -- Covers with portrait of John C. Frémont. [Philadelphia]: Putnam Brothers, ca 1856. Postally used with red 3-cent stamp, addressed to David Ricker. -- And 3 additional covers with portraits of Frémont, minor toning, light soil.
