Approx. 33 x 34 1/2 in. printed cotton apron (some fading to portraits, occasional brown spots. old creasing).
A textile produced to celebrate the starting of Samuel Slater's cotton spinning machinery on 20 December 1790 at the Slater Mill. Contemporary newspapers report on the celebration: "A Cotton Centenary; An Interesting Celebration to be held in Rhode Island." (New York Times, 14 September 1890).
