Lot Description
[EPHEMERA]. 78 RPPCs & photographs of parades, sideshows, and fairs.
The lot is comprised of the following: approx. 63 postcards, mostly real photo postcards, 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 in., or smaller, many unused, 3 CDVs, 9 silver gelatin photographs, 3 3/4 x 6 in., or smaller, and 3 glass plate negatives. Many of the scenes are identified in the negative or include inscriptions.
Highlighted titles/scenes include: CDV of Major Atom, credited to Eisenmann, New York (soiling to print, corner wear to mount). -- CDV after lithograph/engraving of Tom Thumb's Wedding Party, published by George Stinson & Co., Portland, ME. -- CDV of Admiral Dot, published by Anthony, New York (some soiling to print, trimmed corners). -- A musical act peforming before a large banner promoting Elwick's Star Theatre Moving Pictures, in Montana. -- Tent with sign promoting "Free Moving Pictures." -- Multiple images of the Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA, incl. various floats. -- 3 glass negatives of the Rose Parade. -- 2 views of someone performing a stunt at the center of town. -- 2 images of diving horses. -- Panoramic postcard featuring printed scene of the Rose Parade on Colorado Street, Pasadena, CA. -- Multiple images of bands and musical acts, incl. studio portraits and views of bands marching in parades or performing at events. -- At least 7 exaggerated scenes, incl. a hunter sprinkling salt on the tail of an oversized rabbit. -- Autographed image of "Dotty Dimples."
Together, approx. 78 real photo postcards and photographs. Condition generally good to very good. Some with edge wear, including trimmed edges, toning, and album residue to verso.
