Lot Description
[EPHEMERA]. Large collection of over 500 antique and vintage holiday postcards.
The lot is comprised of more than 500 lithographed postcards and printed items.
The following holidays and special occasions are represented within the collection: Valentine's Day and love (approx. 25). -- Easter (approx. 32). -- Independence Day and patriotic scenes (approx. 16). -- Halloween (4). -- Thanksgiving (approx. 28). -- Christmas (approx. 136). -- New Year greetings (approx. 46). -- Birthday greetings (approx. 24).
[With:] A miscellaneous assortment of postcards with varying subject matter, from romance, to genre scenes, cartoons, literary references, wildlife, flowers, fruit, artistic, and decorative themes. (approx. 170+). Several also feature advertisements. -- Set of 6 postcards of a dog attempting to procure sausages. -- 12 postcards of Disneyland, ca 1950s-1960. -- Approx. 15 lithographed cards, some with advertisements.
Together, more than 500 lithographed postcards and printed items. Condition generally good, with a combination of used and unused postcards included in the group. Several with toning and some corner and edge wear.
