A group of approx. 49 real photo postcards and photographs of naval, army, and other military-related views. Early-to-mid 20th century. The lot features:
Approx. 43 real photo postcards, 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 in., or smaller, several unused, 1 stereoview, and 5 silver gelatin photographs, 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 in., or smaller, with military content, incl. views of army barracks, submarines, ships - both distant views and photos taken on board, images of soldiers in the field, veterans, military parades, and more. Many of the scenes are identified in the negative.
Highlighted titles/scenes include: World War I veterans. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt at a naval base (not RPPC). -- War ships repairing at Mare Island, Vallejo, CA. -- The USS California in harbor, San Diego, CA. -- Ceremony aboard a ship involving a burial at sea. -- Band and Battalion, USS California, Honolulu, 1912. -- Gunning on board the USS Omaha. -- Multiple images related to the Mexican Revolution, including image of Captain Martini on horseback. -- Image of Comanche, Captain Keogh's horse, survivor of the Battle of Little Bighorn. -- The Rough and Ready Hotel. -- Multiple images of military parades. -- Multiple images of submarines.
Together, approx. 49 images, mostly real photo postcards. Condition generally good to very good. Some with edge wear, toning, and album residue to verso.
[With:] 29 printed postcards and stereoviews with military content, highlighted by 9 printed postcards of the Little Bighorn battlefield and Custer monument, copyrighted by the Coffeen Schnitger Trading Co., and published by Herbert A. Coffeen, Sheridan Wyoming. Multiple printed postcards of West Point are also included. Condition generally good to very good. Many with corner/edge wear and toning.
