Salon Moderne / Sophie Gimbel Ensemble worn by Dorothy McGuire, 1956


This lot contains one dress ensemble worn by Dorothy McGuire and two photos of the McGuire sisters that show Dorothy McGuire in the ensemble. One photo is inscribed "Property of Dorothy McGuire" on the back in black ink. 

Dress ensemble with mathcing bolero and self-fabric belt. The bodice of the dress is boned and cut with a full skirt and side zipper. The lace fabric is adorned with sequins, seed beads, and brown glass bugle beads. The jacket has cutout areas at the underarm that are covered with a thin layer of lace to help with perspiration when worn. Both the jacket and the dress have order labels from Salon Moderne / Saks Fifth Avenue / New York that read "D.McGuire / 5/21/56 / 826"

Condition Report

Condition:

The overall condition is good to fair, many loose beads and sequins throughout the fabric. The belt has significant wear, the adhesive that attached the leather to the fabric has failed overtime. There is an approximately  8" seam seperation on one of the interior ruffles.  

Everything is sold 'As Is’. The stated overall condition of the lot is based on the assumption that the wear is consistent with age and use. The absence of any reference to the condition of a lot does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
