Lot Description
Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture Coat From Ebony Fashion Fair, 1970s

This coat was purchased by Eunice Walker Johnson of Johnson Publishing Company and worn in the Ebony Fashion Fair. In addition to the Yves Saint Laurent haute couture label at the center back lining, there is an additional label sewn on the lining that lists the name "Ebony Fashion", the coat no. "53", and additional size and fiber information. 

Blue wool double-breasted coat trimmed with blue velvet. The coat is cut with a wide and pointed notched lapel, long sleeves with a blue velvet cuff, and closes with blue plastic buttons. The coat is lined with blue silk.

Condition Report
Condition:

The overall condition is good. There is some wearing of the velvet facing at neckline and both sleeve cuffs. The tacking on the left back cuff has become loose. There is a small hole on the bottom of the right row of buttons where there button has come loose, but is retained with the garment. A small area of discoloration is on the front right sleeve cap and lapel, along with a brown spot. The welt finish on the right front pocket is coming undone in the back. There are some small white spots in the right front interior of the coat near the waist and the right sleeve lining has become un-stitched at the armhole.
