FIRST EDITION of this translation. John Jones (1798-1847) was a Mississauga Ojibwe missionary and Chief. In 1828 he became the second Indigenous person to be licensed to exhort by the Methodist Church; his younger brother Peter (1802-1856), also a minister and translator as well as a successful author, was the first.
