Publisher's blue cloth decorated in gilt and blind (rebacked preserving original spine). Provenance: H. Smith (early signature in pencil on title-page); Collector's bookplate, a few pencil marks.
FIRST EDITION of Shillinglaw's rare account, tracing the history of Arctic exploration from the time of Eric the Red and including information about the Franklin expedition.
