14 x 19 1/2 in. lithograph (toning, some soilng and occasional spotting, chipping, tears, and some loss to edges, few tears repaired with adhesive). A patriotic, allegorical lithograph after drawing by Seymour Joseph Guy. Inscription in shield at lower left describes this as a certificate to Mrs. R.H. Lambert for a donation to the Brooklyn and Long Island Fair in Aid of the US Sanitary Commission, a private relief agency created in 1861 to support sick and wounded Civil War soldiers.
The lithograph was published in conjunction with the Brooklyn and Long Island Fair, which was held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 1864. The fair raised more than $400,000 for the US Sanitary Commission, and major donors were presented with this print.
