[LINCOLNIANA]. Lincoln & Hamlin Ward 11. Republican Ticket. Boston, MA: Wright & Potter, ca 1860.
4 1/2 x 11 11/16 in. broadside mounted to cardstock (creased throughout, with some wear to edges; affixed to modern cardstock mount along top edge). Upper portion features an illustrated portrait of Lincoln in front of crossed flags and block text above and below reading "Republican Ticket." John A. Andrew (1818-1867) won the election to become the 25th governor of Massachusetts, serving from 1861-1866. A fierce abolitionist, Andrew was also a proponent of the enlistment of Black soldiers. He was given permission to raise a Black regiment in January of 1863, leading to the creation of the famed 54th Massachusetts Regiment, USCT.
