Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. Sixth plate ambrotype of a brass band musician.

Sixth plate relievo ambrotype portrait of a seated musician holding his saxhorn. (Area of deterioration/discoloration to subject's arm, scattered spotting to plate; spotting to preserver.) Housed in a half leatherette case (significant surface wear/loss throughout). Subject wears finely gold-highlighted bullion epaulettes on his jacket. His shako, resting on the table next to him, bears gold-highlighted letters "H.B.B.," undoubtedly representing, in part, "Brass Band," with an entwined emblem just below.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
