[CIVIL WAR]. Cabinet photograph of a GAR veteran with CDV. Ex Julian Converse Collection.
3 1/2 x 6 3/16 in. cabinet photograph on cardstock mount (soiling, staining, creasing, wear to print; mount with pinholes, soiling, staining, and possible clipping to edges and corners). N.p., n.d. Ink inscribed on mount recto, "Quarter Master Post 53 G.A.R." Full standing portrait of a veteran in long coat and hat, posed Napoleonically, and wearing a GAR badge. -- 2 1/4 x 3 1/2 in. CDV on cardstock mount (heavily toned, with spotting and clipping to all edges and corners). N.p., n.d. Pencil inscribed to verso "Eddie Lazelle." Features an aristocratic-looking soldier sewing a large fabric item. -- Together, 2 photographs of soldiers.
Provenance: Ex Julian Converse Collection (Letter to Mr. Converse from Ballard's Antiques mentioning the enclosure of "two photographs," dated 21 April 1959.)
