Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. 5 Civil War tokens and a temperance token.
5 tokens, each approx. 20 mm, housed in plastic bags and stapled to a typed card, which identifies the objects as "Five Different Civil War Tokens, Unc.," with price below (tokens not removed from bags, left as discovered, tarnish to surface). Tokens include: Obverse with Indian head, reverse with eagle over shield surrounded by "United States of America 1863." -- Obverse with "M.S. Brown 1865" at center, reverse with "Eureka, 2, Warren St., New York." -- Obverse with man on horseback at center surrounded by "Time is Money, 1863 Exigency," reverse with "Hussey's Special Message Post, 50 William St.(?) New York." -- Obverse with "Liberty 1865," reverse with "Union." -- Obverse with person in profile, reverse with crossed flags and cannon.
[With:] Approx. 20 mm token housed in plastic bag and stapled to a typed card, which identifies the object as a "Temperance Medal," with price listed below (token not removed from bag, left as discovered, tarnish and surface wear). Obverse features eagle with shield at center surrounded by "Honesty is the Best Policy," reverse with "Dedicated to the Cause of Virtue, Honesty, and Temperance."
