Lot Description

Binder of material related to the Battles of Bataan and Corregidor, highlighted by signatures of Generals Jonathan M. Wainwright and Douglas MacArthur, POWs, and other survivors. Also included are articles and personal recollections of survivors of the Bataan Death March and Japanese POW camps. Additional signatures include the following: Agapito "Gap" Silva, a National Guardsman from New Mexico, a state which experienced a particularly large impact from the Bataan Death March due to the high number of soldiers from that state serving in Bataan;  Abie Abraham; Mario "Motts" Tonelli; Bert Bank;  Glen McDole; Harold W. Poole; and more. Also notable are the signatures of Sallie D. Farmer, a nurse who served on Corregidor and was a POW, and Admiral John Bulkeley, MOH recipient.

[With:] A binder of material related to the 5307th Composite Unit (Provisional), also known as "Merrill's Marauders," a long-range penetration special operations jungle warfare unit which operated in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. Included are more than 19 signatures of Private Clyde D. Cooper who served with Merrill's Marauders, a modern Merrill's Marauders patch, and information related to the unit.
