Lot Description
LINDBERGH, Charles A. (1902-1974). Airmail receipt from the Springfield Air Mail Service signed ("Charles A. Lindbergh"). Springfield, IL, August 1926.
1 page, 7 3/4 x 5 3/4 in. (sight), "Post Office Department, Second Assistant Postmaster General, Contract Air Mail Service," light folds, light soiling. The report indicates weather conditions, plane number, time mail left post office and ship left field. Signed by Lindbergh as an employee at the Air Mail Field, the report is postmarked Springfield, IL, 31 July 1926.
The document is matted and framed together with 5 photographs, including Lindbergh and others posed before the Spirit of St. Louis, as well as US Mail airplanes and other pilots. Each approx. 5 1/8 x 3 in. (sight). An accompanying document issued by Balcony Row Antiques in Holly, MI, indicates: "The oak in this framing is from Charles Lindbergh's mother's home."
Together, 6 items, including a document and photographs, matted and displayed in a 33 1/2 x 21 in. frame (not examined outside frame).
