View of a Christmas party at the Carlisle School. A large mess hall or dining room decorated with wreaths, garland, and banners reading "Merry Christmas" seats nearly 200 students, arranged at rectangular tables topped with bowls and plates and what appear to be whole turkeys or chickens, each one topped with a miniature American flag (light toning, some spotting, and soiling throughout, with wear to mount edges and corners). Most of the children wear either serious or morose expressions. -- View of the Carlisle grounds, showing the bandstand and girls' quarters along with many male and female subjects occupying shaded areas in between (toning, spotting, soiling, and wear to mount edges and corners). Ink inscription to mount recto reads, "Carlisle Indian School." -- Together, 2 boudoir photographs, each approx. 8 x 4 3/4 in., or smaller, on cardstock mounts; each framed (separately) to approx. 16 x 12 1/2 in. (not examined out of the frame).
[With:] Approx. 9 x 7 1/2 in. silver gelatin photograph of Carlisle School percussion players on larger cardstock mount (some silver mirroring and light edgewear to image, mount with some spotting, surface loss, and edgewear); framed to approx. 21 1/2 x 18 in. (not examined out of the frame). Featured are 5 male Carlisle students posed with various percussion instruments including a bass drum with "Carlisle Indian School / US" painted on its head, cymbals, xylophones, snare drums, and others.
